Sebelum Carrie Bradshaw jadi tante-tante gembira seperti yang kita kenal sekarang ini, pada tahun 1984 dia pernah menjadi anak SMA yang sedang mendaki tebing terjal menuju kedewasaan. Di awal seri, diceritain ibunya baru aja meninggal dan keluarganya sedang berusaha menyesuaikan diri dengan keadaan tersebut. Adiknya, Dorrit jadi anak rebel dan bapaknya protektif banget. Di sini Carrie baru mulai meniti karir di Interview magazine sebagai intern.
Since I cannot relate well with Sex and the City (belom kali ya, gue emang kepengen kayak Carrie dewasa yang berdikari dan sukses, pastinya, tapi minus the sex part. Semoga gue bakal jadi tante-tante sukses, amin), I can relate well with this series. Segala insecurities-nya Carrie, overthink-nya, gimana dia beranjak dari daddy’s little girl menuju cewek grown up itu somehow I can relate. Aih, I sound like teenage grrrl banget gak sih….
Overall this show is great. Yah, slice of life cewek banget sih dan Carrie was a one lucky girl, fashion editor di Interview likes her so much dan membukakan karir dia dan segala macem yang kayaknya masih too good to be true aja. Tapi gue suka gimana dia bisa bersikap dewasa untuk ukuran anak SMA, yang mana bagi gue yang udah umur segini masih susah aja dilakuin. Huff.
Letting go of people or traditions is hard because you invest so much in them… that to let go can be scary, but it can also be liberating or even essential to your happiness. If you don’t let go, you can find yourself in a dark place unable to kick your worst habits. And sometimes if we truly love someone, we have to be okay with letting go.
